I’ve been tracking the beers I drink on Untappd since 2013. This is my 2023 year in review, a look at what I drank, what I enjoyed, and a few patterns that stood out once the year wrapped up.

An increase in check-ins and unique beers made 2023 a year of momentum and variety, with plenty of new beers and breweries in the mix.
Friday was my most common check-in day, with beers from just two countries: New Zealand and Australia, keeping things close to home overall.
American IPA dominated my check-ins, with Wellington’s Garage Project coming out on top as my most checked-in brewery.

Garage Project’s dominance in 2023 was largely driven by their Fresh Hop Subscription, where each delivery bundled multiple seasonal releases. That structure naturally boosted the number of unique beers I tried and made them hard to beat on volume alone.
Heading into 2024, I was keen to slow things down a little, be more selective, and spend less time chasing every new release. Cheers! 🍺
